About Me

What is my background?

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, BWRT Therapist, NLP Master Practitioner and Ericksonian hypnotherapist.

I currently work in the UK for Buckinghamshire New University as a full-time Senior Lecturer in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Prior to this I was a lecturing, tutoring and supervising full-time on the CBT Diploma course at the Charlie Waller Institute at the University of Reading, following many years working within the NHS as a Senior Psychological Therapist. In this role I delivered Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) interventions for people experiencing moderate to severe episodes of anxiety and depression.

As a senior lecturer in Cogntitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I train future CBT trainees how to be competent therapists and a safe pair of hands.

Within my NHS role I specialised in anxiety, depression and traumatic events, which includes PTSD but focuses on trauma from other life events that might not present as PTSD. I ran training courses on Anger Management, Understanding Depression and Mindfulness to help people become their own therapists (and not dependent on therapy for their whole life). I have also designed psychological training within for other NHS services and different courses for online therapies.

If you are experiencing problems relating to mood, communication or life challenges then you have come to the right place. I have a proven track record in helping large groups of people achieve long-lasting solutions to their problems and I provide practical and structured psychological interventions that help people move towards a calmer and more assertive future from the very first session.

What is Solution-Focused Therapy?

Modern psychological therapies can help you achieve your goals and move you towards your desires in life more purposefully. I emphasise my practice as ‘solution-focused therapy’ because my foundations are in modern psychological and psychotherapeutic treatments and the solutions I deliver are not only grounded in evidence based solutions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but also therapies that utilise the power of your sub-conscious, such as Brainworking Recursive Therapy (BWRT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and contemporary hypnotherapy. In English this justs means that I am better able to identify what isn’t working, or what is making you unhappy, and develop a practical solution to address your problem in the here and now.

I’m not bound by one style of therapy so I promise to treat you with the therapeutic solution you need, rather than forcing you to fit to a particular theme of treatment.

Many people who have had no success with traditional therapy in the past have found my modern approach to therapy both refreshing, successful and ultimately long-lasting. My modern solution-focused therapy style & hypnotherapy, can turn your life around and maybe start turning your dreams into reality.

Who uses solution-focused therapies?
Anyone and everyone can benefit from solution-focused therapy, from housewives to prime ministers. Margaret Thatcher, Nelson Mandela and Tiger Woods have all worked with solution-focused therapists.

In fact, it is often highly successful, talented people who turn to solution-focused therapists for help proactively before something does go wrong. Whatever walk of life people come from, they’re all seeking answers that a solution-focused therapist can help them find.

Here are some areas that I’ve worked on with clients in the past:

+  Reduce your anxiety, worry & fears about life
+  Fine-tune your confidence
+  Let go of crippling phobias, such as flying, spiders or heights
+  Improve your communication skills and relationships
+  Shake off your depression and stop mood swings
+  Free yourself from time-wasting OCD behaviours and thoughts
+  Study more efficiently and effectively
+  Act and speak more assertively
+  Become a leader
+  Really stop smoking for good, not just for 5 minutes
+  Be able to motivate others
+  Improve your acting skills
+  Improve your sexual performance
+  Cope with frustration and anger
+  Understand yourself better
+  Make a meaningful change in your life
+  Beat exam stress & learn to revise smarter
+  Break free from insomnia
+  Talk to someone neutral
+  Improve your health, lose weight and keep it off
+  Improve your development as a person

This list is not exhaustive because everyone has different needs in life at different times, so if you’ve never considered working with a therapist before but would like to try you may be pleasantly surprised by the results.

Working with a solution-focused therapist is similar to hiring your own personal fitness coach at a gym, I will keep you focused, structured and motivated. Instead of strengthening your muscle I will strengthen your mind.
